Throughout the last six seasons of Game of Thrones Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen has proven to be one of the best dressed characters. We've seen her outfitted for battle and reign over Slaver's Bay, but had yet to see if her wardrobe could handle the coming of winter. In Sunday's episode, "Beyond the Wall," Daenerys was called to war and came to slay in her best look yet.
We first see Dany's majestic coat as she approaches the edge of Dragonstone's cliffs. She is about to head north of the wall aboard Drogon - one of the three dragons under her command - in order to rescue Jon Snow and his motley crew from the legion of White Walkers that have surrounded them.
The war-ready white and dove gray coat is mesmerizing. It's the first time we've seen "rightful heir to the Iron Throne, rightful Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of the Seven Kingdoms, the Mother of Dragons, the Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, the Unburnt, the Breaker of Chains" dress for winter and she does not disappoint. The sleek armor-like silhouette is classic Khaleesi: rather rigid with a high-neck and broad sharp shoulders. Asymmetrical layers of fur tufts contour to form a sleek, fitted bust and bodice then flair out toward the hem. The grandiose sleeves are wide, a little loo long and bell out slightly.
When Dany turns around to mount Drogon, we're given a glimpse of the back of the coat. Irregular layers of fawn-colored fur begin at the base of the neck, taper at the waist, then expand and flow down into a train. This subtle, unexpected detail mimics the skin and scales of her dragons. The final accessory and finishing touch is Dany's intricate silver dragon chain.
After demonstrating her strength and beauty in battle, It's no wonder Jon Snow is ready to bend the knee.
