L’Oréal Paris and Balmain have teamed up to create a capsule collection of the beauty brand’s bestselling Color Riche lipsticks. Balmain's social-savvy creative director Olivier Rousteing solidified his first foray into makeup by overseeing everything from the packaging and advertising campaign to the 12 new lipstick shades.
At the core of the L’Oréal Paris and Balmain collaboration is a shared vision of “beauty in diversity and female empowerment.” The collaboration between the two famed Parisian houses also build upon the partnership between L’Oréal Paris and Paris Fashion Week.
The campaign, lensed by Nico Bustos, premiered this week with imagery of Rousteing accompanied by twelve women of varying origins and backgrounds. They appear stunning and fearless atop a Paris rooftop at dawn - an exquisite embodiment of the "Balmain army" attitude. Each of the twelve women are dressed in head-to-toe Balmain and have their distinct look paired with a lipstick shade from the soon-to-launch collection.
According to a joint statement released by the brands, the imagery is meant to reflect "three tribes of L'Oréal Paris and Balmain Paris femininity" - Rock, Couture, and Glamazone. The twelve metallic matte shades are designed for every complexion and offer something for every style sensibility from an army green, deep purple, smoldering navy blue, soft coral, or sultry brown. Even the lipstick capsule appeals to lovers of luxury as it features a decadent riff on precious materials such as emerald-green malachite, blue lapis lazuli, and onyx.
